Emily Frances Algar is a features writer specialising in culture, international relations and politics. Emily has experience in content writing for the higher education, development and charity sectors. Emily also has experience in A&R when she worked on the Grammy Nominated Album (Best Folk Album) Front Porch by artist Joy Williams.

Emily has been published in a number of print and digital publications including Women in Journalism, Atwood Magazine, No Majesty, Holler.Country and American Songwriter.

Emily specialises in both long and short form features as well as interviews and reviews. She has written pieces ranging from the impact of climate change on women and girls, the commercialisation of feminism and feminism in popular culture as well as interviewing refugees from Iran.

In 2020, Emily interviewed BBC Radio 3 presenter Jess Gillam. In 2021 interviewed Environmental Journalist Erica Gies in the run-up to COP26 on the impact climate change has had on women and girls in the developing and developed world.

Emily has a Masters in International Security from Oxford Brookes University. Her thesis looked at the extent to which the media shaped public opinion during the Vietnam and Iraq (2003) wars. She received a Merit for both her thesis and Masters degree.
